Green Barcelona
It is obvious that Barcelona's parks are a source of great botanical richness. But these natural spaces also have their own personality, because they are repositories of cultural, historical and artistic values. Take, for example, Park Güell, designed by the genius Antoni Gaudí, or the Ciutadella Park, which bears witness to a very specific point in the city's history. And there are more: some, like Guinardó Park and l'Oreneta Park, are filled with lush woodland vegetation; others, like the Horta Labyrinth, offer a glimpse into the city's stately past. There are parks of every kind: with groves of trees and shaded areas, classic gardens, historic parks, wooded parks; parks inside the blocks of buildings, gardens dedicated to succulents and cacti, or to bulbs or aquatic plants; parks filled with Mediterranean vegetation, and even a proper botanic garden.
And of course the city has two immense 'green lungs': the Natural Park of Collserola and the mountain of Montjuïc. They are right here in the city and are the ideal places to enjoy green, natural scenery along their signposted paths, on guided routes, and in spaces designed for the whole family to enjoy.
If you want to discover the botanical wealth of the Montjuïc mountain, we suggest you the Montjuïc Park Botanical Route. A route through the mountain gardens that shows you some of the curiosities of trees from other continents, exotic plants, aquatic plants and even a great variety of cacti.
